I’m sure at some point in your life, somebody told you, “persistence pays off.”
Yes, this is true for the most part – but it’s not always the case. Of course, with any type of success, some type of persistence is needed, but…
Strength is shown not only in the ability to persist, but the ability to start over.
Imagine yourself on what you consider to be one of your worst days, trying over and over again – and failing over and over again – at whatever it is that you’re trying to do. The focus is there, the persistence is there, but for some reason something just isn’t working out.
I’ve been there – time and time again.
Sometimes, the feeling of persisting so much with something and seeing no results can be completely overwhelming. Not only that, but it can be disheartening and defeating. I’m talking about anything from work, to fitness, to even being a parent. That’s why I want to remind you that you are human, and it’s entirely okay to feel the way that you do.
Now that you’ve reconnected with your human self, here are some ways to pick up the pieces, move on, and find the strength in restarting.
Restart your mind
Technically, you can never restart your mind (we wish!), but you can do something to get your mind’s thoughts and vibes flowing in a different direction. Take the time to stop, regroup, and take a breather. Do something to get your mind off your frustrations. Do anything, except whatever it was that was frustrating you – try going on a run, washing the dishes, taking a bath, reading a book, or even taking a nap!
Restart your body
Now that your mind has done some refueling, it’s time to refuel your body. Indulge in a yummy, healthy meal that will warm your taste buds and make your body feel good, full, and happy. Grab something that you genuinely enjoy — make an energy shake, have a cup of tea, or maybe even a glass of wine! Try anything that will make your tastebuds happy.
God willing, tomorrow is going to come – and when it does, it will be bright and fresh. Throw your daily busts into your imaginary metaphorical trash can and be done with them. They do not need to linger around, they do not need to pull up a chair and have dinner with you, and they do not need to wake up in the morning next to you. Throw. Them. Away.
Your ability to start things over is probably one of the healthiest ways to show off your strengths. You are strong, inside and out. And while yes persistence may pay off, always remember that you’re human and it’s okay to try again tomorrow! All that matters is that you never give up, and you turn your “I can’t” into “I can.” Start over today and be determined to make it amazing!
What are some ways that you like to restart your vibe? I’d love to hear in the comments!
